Broccoli
Broccoli is another great stable crop. One of the advantages of broccoli over cauliflower is that it will re-shoot when the main bunch is picked. By this I mean that little bunches will for around where the large bunch was taken from. You can thus get a few meals out of each plant if you are lucky. They are also a good year round crop doing well through both winter and summer.
Broccoli can be planted by the punnet or from seed. You will notice the shoots are quite unique and look a little like radish shoots initially so don't get confused between the two. Seedlings are great because they will give your broccoli plants a head start on the coompetition (i.e. the weeds) and you generally don't need more than about 8 plants.
You will notice that in most punnets you will have two seedlings per hole. This is done as occasionally one doesn't grow, and so they put an extra one in to make sure there is at least one plant per division in the punnet. If you are careful you can separate the two plants and get some extra mileage out of your seedlings.
